One of the best features of the Wii U & 3DS has been shut down. Released on November 18th 2012, Miiverse was Nintendo's first social network and allowed users to draw or type messages and share them with game communities. It was also right on the home screen of the Wii U menu as it showed off the most popular communities at that time as random Miis would be huddled around those popular game icons. Often, games would integrate Miiverse posts into the actual game such as the Miiverse stage in Smash Bros or the Tingle Bottle from Wind Waker HD. Back in June 2013 we added the Miiverse Posts section to the website as an archive for the drawings on the Legend of Zelda community of Miiverse. With the shut down, our final total is 12394...

This is it! We are in the home stretch of the release of Breath of the Wild and the Nintendo Switch. With just a little over three days to go, it has been a very long time between main Zelda titles. With the exception of Link Between Worlds, it has been almost six years since the last real Zelda game. In addition to Breath of the Wild, obviously the Nintendo Switch will be releasing at the same time. Are you getting Breath of the Wild for the Switch or Wii U or possibly even both? Since last fall we have been working on a complete revamp and design of our website and forums, and we have finally released what we have been working on. There is still a lot to do, but we hope you'll check out our new features and leave your comments!

Nintendo has revealed that their next console will be releasing worldwide in March 2017. Nintendo also announced that the NX will be absent from this year's E3 and will be showcased at a later event. This year's E3 instead will be mainly focused on the new Zelda title that is now confirmed to be coming simultaneously to both the Wii U and Nintendo NX, and will be the only playable title from Nintendo at E3. Unfortunately this also means that the Wii U version has been delayed, a third time, to 2017 after confirming a 2016 release last November. This means the Wii U will be the first Nintendo console without it's own exclusive Zelda title. It's likely we will see Zelda Wii U as a launch title for the NX as Twilight Princess was for...

It's that time of year again when Ghinis, Stalfos, and Gibdos run wild. As is tradition, we have updated our Radio to play our favorite Halloween video game tunes. Our current playlist is below. Have an idea for a soundtrack that should be included? Leave us a post on the forums and we'll see about getting it added!
Nintendo's Club Nintendo replacement and Digital Rewards service, as well as Nintendo's first foray into mobile phone gaming are finally live for us in the west. My Nintendo is the new hub for collecting rewards by completing "missions" such as buying and playing Nintendo games, answering surveys, and more. It is also the start to a unified account management system across all Nintendo hardware and services. Currently you can collect points by creating a My Nintendo account, adding your social accounts, playing Miitomo, or purchasing downloadable games on the Wii U and 3DS. Also as a "secret mission", if you click on the brick block on the bottom right side of the My Nintendo page, and then click on your Mii at the top of the page...

It's been thirty years since the Legend of Zelda was originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and paved the way to one of the most heralded franchises in all of gaming. Two fans made an awesome 2.5D version of the original game, called it Zelda30Tribute, and allowed everyone the right to play it free inside their browser. It is not yet a completed project, but currently you are able to access and complete three dungeons as well as traverse most of the overworld. It is also compatible with either your PC or your mobile phone, but expect some bugs here and there. The developers are asking for people to play, test, and report any bugs they find to their Facebook page. The game played smoothly on both my PC and my iPhone...

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, passed away on July 11th, 2015 the company said in an official statement released on July 12th. Iwata became president of Nintendo in 2002, and has been a major part of many Nintendo staples, such as the Nintendo Wii, DS, and 3DS systems. He will be missed.
We have made some major changes to the website design over the past few weeks, while making minor adjustments to the layout. The major change is the color scheme of the website, with improvements in readability, spacing, and headings, while attempting to maintain the retro feel. Let us know in the comments if you like these changes, or have any suggestions! We have added over 1000 new songs to the ZX Radio since the last update, that pushes us near 3000 different tracks to listen too. We regularly add new songs and remove songs that perform poorly in our voting results. So make sure to tune in using your browser or your favorite media player, and vote on which songs you like the best so we can make the radio even better for everyone...
Majora's Mask 3DS and the New 3DS system were officially released today for the 3DS! Majora's Mask features quite a number of changes from the N64 version, including the ability to use the Fierce Diety mask outside of the final battle, but only in the fishing holes. Other changes are similar to the changes Ocarina of Time 3DS had, such as gyroscopic controls for first person events, better item management, and different ocarina notes. Majora's Mask 3DS also supports the second control stick for camera movement. A few stores did receive more stock of the limited Majora's Mask New 3DS system, but were sold out pretty quickly, so don't give up hope if you still want one!
Unlike many past limited edition versions of Zelda themed consoles and games, the Majora's Mask limited edition variants have all sold out within minutes of the pre-order opening up. Meanwhile, it is still pretty easy to find the Wii U Wind Waker bundle, as well as the Link Between Worlds 3DS. So why is the Majora's Mask edition so... limited? The shortage of Majora's Mask harkens back to the recent run of certain Amiibos that saw very high demand, but low supply. Is this part of Nintendo's strategy to artificially create even more demand, similar to what some people accuse Apple of doing when it sells out of its newest iPhone every year? Who knows, but the situation is frustrating for Zelda fans. Thankfully, some Zelda fans may still...
In this morning's Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced release dates for the New Nintendo 3DS systems, as well as the Majora's Mask 3DS remake in North America. Both of which are releasing on February 13th, and even better, Nintendo is releasing a special edition Majora's Mask edition of the New Nintendo 3DS as shown above. Now begs the question Zelda fans, which collectible do you get? The limited edition system with built in digital copy of the game, or the retail copy with very real statue? Choices, choices... Edit: It appears the limited edition system does not include a copy of the game. Very unlike previous limited edition systems.
Today Nintendo revealed a limited edition bundle of Majora's Mask 3DS coming to North America later this year. The package includes a copy of the game (obviously), and a Skull Kid figurine as seen above. GameStop is currently accepting preorders for this bundle at $49.99.
http://www.youtube.com/embed/qTaTEpualKk Nintendo showed off the World Premiere of Zelda Wii U on The Game Awards tonight, and announced that the game will be released in 2015. The video shows off how large and detailed the world really is. Majora's Mask 3DS was also announced to be releasing before Zelda Wii U. What are your thoughts?
After Ocarina of Time 3D was released on the 3DS in 2011, fans have been petitioning Nintendo to bring it's younger cousin to the handheld. After many rumors, it has finally come true. Nintendo confirmed in it's November 2014 direct that Majora's Mask will be released on the 3DS in Spring 2015. Like Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D will have updated character models. A limited edition of the game will be released in Europe that includes a poster, a badge, and a steelbook, but no word on if North America will receive this. Perhaps we could see a release of a special edition New Nintendo 3DS with this game? Time will tell. You can watch the announcement trailer below. https://www.zeldaxtreme.com/videos/majoras-mask-3d-announcement/...

Exactly 18 years ago today, the Nintendo 64 was released in North America. With it's weird joystick and funky controller layout, the Nintendo 64 paved the way into true 3D gameplay. Mario 64 really showcased just what this 64-bit system could do, and Ocarina of Time still sits at the top of video game rankings. So what better time to pull out your Nintendo 64 and play Mario Party with some friends? What were your favorite moments of the Nintendo 64 era? Also, have you played Hyrule Warriors yet? http://www.youtube.com/embed/trKGdSUwE40

It's that time of year where ghosts and goblins invade our closets, beds, attics, and shadows. In the spirit of things, we have changed the style of the website to a Majora's Mask color scheme, as well as changing the Live Radio to a mixture of the Castlevania series, Majora's Mask, and other halloween themes. Majora's Mask being released a few days shy of Halloween in October of 2000, the game embodies a certain spooky feeling even after all these years, even influencing a creepy-pasta called "BEN Drowned". Trying to save the world from an impending collision between the world and the Moon, the task seems even impossible for the Hero of legend. Majora's Mask is generally regarded as one of the weaker Zelda titles, but it is a personal...
It's been a while since our last update, but there has been a whole lot going on! From going to South Carolina, to buying and renovating a house, its been a hectic month! Regardless, there is always time for site updates! We have done many, many changes to the website since our last update, so many I've probably forgotten some of them by now. I really should write these things down in the future. :) We completed a big overhaul of the website structure for better uniformity and stability in the future. We've updated the forums and fixed the Arcade system so all games play nicely now. We've changed the font of the website again to help readability on different devices and improve site load times. The format of the website was...
