So... how about that NHL lockout, eh? 11 days now and they've cancelled the preseason schedule through September 30th... yeah. I'm the only hockey fan, aren't I?

There just really isn't a hockey culture in the south. It's all football and baseball. Yeah, people follow it and know what's going on in the NHL, but even if we want to watch it on tv, we can't because the only station that has rights to air it is Versus. People follow it down here, but it's not really part of our sports culture.
I went to a few Atlanta games before they dropped the franchise, and the games are fun as shit. It's just not something I could follow like I do other sports.

Meh. ESPN mentions in for five seconds every day and moves on.
ESPN doesn't hold the rights to the NHL like they do for other sports, so they're pretty much only allowed to show highlights and have that one analyst, Barry Melrose, on every now and then. It barely gets any attention, which definitely doesn't help with its appeal, especially in the south.
Give me football any day.

Gonna bump this right back up since I should have in September.
I am a big fan of hockey after playing Wayne Gretzsky 64 and watching Zack & Miri (the 10 seconds there is actually hockey on screen). I have no clue if any of my TV channels actually air the sport though.
Also I enjoyed the Mighty Duck movies when I was a kid, so there's that.
On the flip side, I really haven't watched any NFL games past like week 10 as I just catch the updates on NFL.com. This year Superbowl might be the most boring yet! If Patriots and 49ers both make it in, count me out. I've seen enough of Tom Brady pass for 10 yards over and over and over. Jim Harbaugh would be just over there throwing a tantrum the whole times anyways. I'm not particular towards the Seahawks either with the way the fans act.

I haven't watched hockey in forever! Work is slow today so methinks I'll catch up on some highlights.

Hockey is essentially non existent here. We have the GREENVILLE ROAD WARRIORS, but I think they have to give us a dime beer night to get anyone to come. Hockey just doesn't have the draw down here. Sucks, because it actually really is a great sport with some serious athletes. I follow as much as I can.
