Great!

Killer on the loose too.

This is like the first murder in the history of the county.

I update with news post when they make one.

I wonder if I'll have to work tomorrow? PROBABLY.

http://www.wsls.com/sls/news/local/article/shooting_at_the_homestead_suspect_missing/31189/

Let's look at some comments!

who has ever heard of hot springs or bath county? no care evor about this

My wife and I are in the Homestead hotel right now and did not know of the shooting until the news at 11. We began hearing helicopters about 10:30. The hotel has not notified us that anything out of the ordinary is going on.

i live in blacksburg and unless a story is related to virginia tech or blacksburg i couldn’t care less about it…blacksburg is the only place in SW VA with anything interesting going on…we need more frank beamer race car stories, less of this backwoodseryness, it’s gonna take more than jay’s new glasses to class this operation up again…

To “mudzu” the hotel is quiet right now and the helicopters are further away. Again, no notification from the hotel or staff, which hopefully means that the search is centered away from the building.

to hr hill that was my sister-in-laws husband one of the the dead. i will pray for you o by the way he has a 1 year old child

A bloodhound and a German Shepherd/mix both came to search on Old Greenhouse Road; the helicopters have left the area, at least the area around the hotel, though the area law enforcements are still lined up the greenhouse road. A few houses in the neighborhood have their lights on but only a few lights—it is a cold dark night. Have heard the suspect is from Covington and is an older man who is bald with glasses and has worked for years at the resort.
Prayers are going out to the families of those dead and the suspect, and even to the apostate Mr. Hill in Blacksburg.

The Gunman Goes by the name “Beecher” he is around 5’5” bald on top of his head with gray hair on the sides, small build, He wares small round glasses.

i didn’t mean any disrespect to any victims or families; i just honestly have never heard of that resort or those towns, honestly with a names like hot springs and bath it kinda sounded more like a department at home depot than a place anyone would want to live…

Lolz

The fact that the hotel is trying to cover up the fact there was two murders inside itself is just slimy as all hell. I can totally seeing them trying to do it too. I hope they get it for being such arrogant pricks.

Kinda lame that the dude from Blacksburg had no sympathy considering what happened there.

So what do you think happens to the hotel now? Shutdown for a while, make you work overtime? I can't imagine it going back to a normal routine after two people were shot dead inside. Do you know if there's any truth to the gunman working at the resort, like the comment suggested?

He did work there, for several years. The Homestead probably won't change anything, there won't be any lessons learned from them, because all they care about is the bottom line - not employee's safety. The building I sit in at work, like today, is falling over, and the boards are all lose. It's just a matter of time before this thing crumbles to the ground, but the Homestead doesn't care. People complain to me everyday about how the structure is. Also, it's completed covered in lead paint, which I'm sure is slowly killing me breathing it in all day long.

The managers treat us like crap, and although these two may have been the exceptions by the comments posted on those websites, this should be a wake up call for them. Most of the managers seem to be get off on treating other people like dirt, and honestly it's not a surprise that this happened eventually. My boss is a real bitch, and sooo many people hate her.

So all and all, the Homestead will act like nothing happened out of fear of losing business. Pathetic as that is.

Wow, just wow, it really is a breath of fresh air when you hear about shootings close to where you live. Lucky for me I wasn't close to anyone's case. Even still, it is good to be among the living, Imagine what would happen on the site, would anyone ever catch on?

Hey 3 years later they finally found hims.

A body found in Bath County earlier this month is that of an accused double murderer.

Bath County Sheriff Robert Plecker says it was Beecher Hackney's body that was found off Jackson River Highway.

Hackney is accused of shooting and killing his boss and co-worker at The Homestead back in March of 2009. Then he disappeared.

For a long time, folks in Bath County were worried that he could come back.

The body was found about seven miles from The Homestead on September 2, 2012. Sheriff Robert Plecker told a Bath County newspaper Hackney's wallet and eye glasses were found with the body, along with a handgun and ammunition.

Plecker also told the paper Hackney's wallet was empty. He said, "The wallet was empty. There was no money; no money for drinks; no money for a taxi ride. In my opinion, if you have no money, or means of getting where you are trying to get to, it tells me he already knew what he was going to do."

Sheriff Plecker says he's holding a news conference Tuesday afternoon to divulge more information about the case.
