Better drugs?

A drug that isn't a catch-all drug? Vaccines are drugs! They're for specific diseases! Big diseases! Headache isn't a disease. It's a condition that can be caused by numerous diseases. Yes they know what causes headaches - it can be numerous things, including eyestrain, stress, fatigue, loss of sleep, and tobacco and alcohol.

There aren't drugs that will kill you over time. If you took the drugs more often than they are prescribed, then yes, probably. But if you take the recommended dose at the time you need it, you are not going to die simply because of that one drug - if so you would see lawsuits like those of Vioxx for Lovastatin. You can't bring cigarettes and alcohol vs. cocaine into this argument - none of those are created by drug companies!

Yes vaccines are useless for people who already have the disease. But you know what? Tough luck. You can't save everyone. When was the last time you met someone with tuburculosis? Not lately I bet. It isn't curing - it's preventing. If everyone in the US is prevented from gaining the disease, then why do you need a cure?

The vaccine for smallpox didn't "wear off." Although I don't know the specific case of smallpox, the way most vaccines work is that they actually give you a dead or weakened version of the disease so that you can develop antibodies to fight the disease in the future. Recall your old high school biology class. Of course, the disease evolves and may develop antigens that your body is not prepared for. That's why the FDA requires vaccines to be periodically tested to assure that they are still working against the strain of the disease that is out there. I know for a fact that Dryvax, the smallpox vaccine, was first approved by the FDA in 1931 and is still being used today.

Something that lowers your chances of getting the common cold by 2/3? I'd like to see that. Trust me, there's no research even close to curing the common cold.

"The Rain Forest provided tons of cures to diseases, but maybe we already destroyed the thing that could have helped us." What you're referring to is using natural products as drugs. The isolation of natural products is a dying area of chemistry/biology. There simply isn't a lot there anymore. The real stuff is in organic synthesis in the lab.

You can't cure the side-effects because the cure for the side-effects would have their own side-effects! The human body is an insanely complicated machine - it's difficult to make a compound function in only one way. Compounds have numerous functions in a cell, all which produce different effects.

Because America has the highest amount of people from other countries coming here, whether it's legally or illegally, whether its to stay or to visit.

Your point being? What does it matter if people come to the US with pneumonia? If they didn't get the vaccine in their own country, they would have gotten the disease over there, too.

because not everyone here can afford to get the vaccine, and if the vaccine does wear off and doesn't work anymore, we are basically fucked.

True, but that's a big if. It won't "wear off." They simply adjust the vaccine to the new antigen.

there is a tribe of indigenous peoples in south america who regularly eat vitamin b-12 in the form of apricot pits (the supposed cure for cancer) and there has never been a case of cancer within this tribe in all of recorded history.
so it's banned in the US as a supplement and the FDA refuses to acknowledge it as a potential cure or at least prevention method.

oh and yoda. they do NOT know what causes headaches. there are millions of people suffering from what they call "chronic headaches" and they have NO IDEA why they're getting them. i'm a lucky one of them. and tylenol DOESNT FUCKING HELP. so sod off.
